GET TO KNOW ME
I am Kristen Owens, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a native of Newport News, Virginia. I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective therapy services to individuals across the state of Virginia. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Virginia State University, and I furthered my education by earning a Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
With over 12 years of experience in the Social Work field, my journey has been shaped by a deep passion for helping individuals across all ages and backgrounds, including a special calling to support geriatrics and the aging population.
I specialize in addressing a wide range of topics, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss, trauma, self-esteem, life transitions, family dynamics, addiction, workplace stress, anger management, chronic illness, social anxiety, and more. My approach to therapy combines the power of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. These frameworks allow me to help clients navigate their challenges by addressing thought patterns, finding effective solutions, and fostering positive change. Guided by empathy, I’m committed to meeting clients where they are on their unique journeys, ensuring that we work collaboratively towards achieving their goals, including improving relationships.
From adults to children and every stage in between, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals from all walks of life, tailoring my approach to suit their distinct circumstances. This breadth of experience allows me to provide comprehensive care that addresses the unique needs of each individual.
Outside of my professional work, I have a zest for traveling and enjoy exploring new places. Spending quality time with my family and friends is essential to me, as it reminds me of the importance of connections and the beauty of shared experiences.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, my mission extends beyond individual sessions. I’m devoted to giving back to the community, creating a ripple effect of well-being that reaches far and wide. It’s my privilege to guide you on your path to growth, healing, and resilience.”
